I agree with you, Blake. I do believe that the Mackenzies were “spit out” of the stones and landed right back where they started — maybe a few minutes or hours later. I’m basing my theory on a couple of things. In episode 313, Claire told Geillis that she believed she was able to travel to the right time because Jaime was drawing her to him. The same could be said of Frank in the 20th century. The Mackenzies have no one drawing them to the 20th century. All their loved ones are on the Ridge — and that is especially true for Jemmy, the strongest traveller of the three. In this episode, Roger said that it’s about them “living the life they are meant to live.” Well, Briana was meant to live in the 18th century. She was conceived there — she is the 200 year old baby. And, Jemmy was conceived, born and has lived his entire short life in the 18th century. He belongs there. In episode 408, Roger said that “old Roger” is gone. It’s important to note that Roger hadn’t brought up going back to the 20th century since before that episode. In episode 509, when Jamie wanted Roger to promise that he would take the whole family (including Claire) to the 20th century, Roger didn’t respond. While “old Roger” may have belonged in the 20th century, that guy is gone. He has been replaced by an 18th century version who has acclimated well to that time. As he said in 508, he’s not teaching or studying history, he is living it. The Mackenzies are living the life they were meant to live — in the 18th century.
I believe that the Mackenzies will return to the Ridge with Ian in time to rescue Claire. (It wasn’t clear in the show, but the script states that two weeks pass between when the Mackenzies go through the stones and when Claire is abducted.) The episode will end with the entire family together and looking forward to the future. We may also end with a cliffhanger showing a villain or two for season 6. I have theories on that as well, but that would require me to post spoilers from book 6! Looking forward to an epic finale!
One more observation. I believe that Jemmy is a very powerful time traveller — much more powerful than the others for two reason. Both his parents are time travellers; but more importantly, both his parents owe their very existence to time travel. Briana wouldn’t exist if Claire hadn’t travelled back in time and married Jamie. Roger wouldn’t exist if Geillis hasn’t travelled back in time and had Buck with Dougal.
Can someone please tell me I’m not the only one who shouted “Donner!” at my TV during a particular scene?
Claire was kidnapped 4 weeks after Bree and family left. Not two weeks.
