I LOVE the personality insites that you BOTH bring to your recaps x Bree was most probably drinking Irn-Bru… PURE sugar and much loved by Scots The advertising stated it was ….Made in Scotland.. from GIRDERS … I'm sure there must be something on You-Tube to let you hear the way they pronounce GIRRRRRDERS xx.. VILE stuff !!

Great podcast format Mary. I don't think I have ever heard Blake so excited. I did want to correct a minor point. In Ep 101, Jamie's ghost sees Claire through the window at Mrs. Baird's Bed and Breakfast not the window she is looking out of in 213 which is at Wakefield Manse.

When I first saw this episode I give it a 4.7 because of the inordinate number of intercuts between time periods that kept jolting me out of a scene I was just getting invested in and pulling my focus to another one. But after repeated viewings, I found this to be less and less disruptive and felt that the effect was intentional, to keep the tension, to keep us on an emotional rollercoaster. Another thing that bothered me was that there was no final moment between Claire and Murtagh, but when you realize that at the point where Jamie sends Murtagh to gather the Lallybroch men, Claire does not realized that Jamie is going to take her to the stones and that this is the last time she will see Murtagh. I do believe that Murtagh knew it because he gave Jamie a knowing nod when he said "I must see Claire safe" and they looked towards the hill of Craig Na Dun. So I have revised my kilt rating to 5 kilts, because all of the other elements in this episode deserved bonus points. When I binge watch Season 2, I think that I will have a different response to the previous episodes now that I know the arc and where we were going.

I saw Claire going to help her husband, remember Jamie said they deal with their loss together. She knew Jamie had feelings for Dougal and was hesitating. Douglas was irrational and was going to kill both if possible.

Three thoughts:

1. I've read all of DG's books, multiple times, and Voyager is my favorite. I'll refrain from spoilers, but the characters alone have me tingling in anticipation (keeping up with casting is going to be a blast). Blake, you will love it. (Smugglers, pirates, selkies oh my… oops, how did that slip out?)

2. Thank God Skelton didn't attempt a Boston accent. Only one non-New England actor has ever to this New Englander's ear ever pulled one off – Jay Baruchel in "Goon." Not to mention that Bree was raised by English parents, one who taught at Harvard, and went to a Catholic school, where the nuns would smack you if you yelled "shut up!" on the playground. (I went to Catholic school in the '60s. I am not kidding.)

3. I respectfully but vehemently disagree with your editor's assessment of Season 2, but that's fine. What bothers me is her assumption that everyone believes as she does. Catriona doesn't deserve an Emmy nod because "we" don't think so? Excuse me? Everyone has the right to their opinion, but please don't presume to speak for everyone.

Just an FYI, you can disagree, but please note, I always presume most people will disagree with me, and I also called out Caitriona because I thought she was amazing and deserving, though I still don't believe the season as a whole was.

The window scene was nice, however not the same window. They were at a bed and breakfast when Jamie's ghost was outside. The only time Claire stayed at Reverend's house was when she came back through stones. Sorry.

Yeah, I liked the window scene, too. I think it was the same window Claire stood gazing up through the smoke from the clothes that Frank was burning in episode 1. (sob!)

I totally agree with Charlotte. Catriona's constant work in most episodes, her grit and stamina to portray every feeling with such gut wrenching scenes, like in FAITH, and the lot of men working around her, with her VOICE alone, she deserves Emmy after Emmy!

I've been doing genealogy for over thirty years and back in the mid 80's I was able to handle and take pictures of some old documents without any gloves. Now, that is not the case. Since they since this was taking place back in 1968, the way people handled things could have been this lax. Just saying.

Mary – you note that the ghost from episode one was something that “book readers didn’t even know”. The Highlander that Frank sees is in the books. Did I misunderstand your statement?
Tang is a product of the sixties, designed for NASA for the space program.
