Just which seedy part of town does Mary Beth hang out in for her to know what the phrase ‘rumpy pumpy’ actually means!! It’s a gem I remembered from the Inspector Morse series based on the Colin Dexter novels. Morse is a Cambridge educated policeman and it was his Sargent Lewis ( not a university man at all) who uttered this delightful slang, with a cockney accent, in the course of a murder investigation. Morse , played by the amazing John Thaw raises a veddy english eyebrow and says ‘rumpy -pumpy???’ in a voice laden with derision. That this 20 year old scene stuck in my mind, well ,tells you of the classy gutter my BBC viewing habits place me in! Hey- Jaime’s sister Jenny throws water on her’ rutting’ brother – IMO Rumpy Pumpy is exactly what those two were up to in the closet ha-ha. Glad to have supplied some mirth for the podcast!!
I’m laughing so hard with you guys about Rumpy Pumpy, I can’t chop my carrots…
