Missed the Outlander Tweet Fest Part 2 with Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin? No worries. We’ve got the recap for you right here.
The cast from Outlander celebrated the end of shooting Outlander Season 5 with a Tweet Fest. Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe kicked it off. In this post, Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton answered questions from the fans. Here’s what they had to say.
Just like Sam Heughan, Richard Rankin gave us a couple of heads up tweets. Evidently it was Mexican at the craft services table. Also, it only took a few tweets to understand the need for brevity. But he wasn’t stingy with his words.
It's wrap day on Season 5 and what a Season it's been!! More Q&A to come in 30mins. Get your questions in and then @sophieskelton will be picking up the baton shortly after!! Join in #Outlander #Askrichard #Asksophie pic.twitter.com/dtZ6DJCAs8

Just smashed a belter of a burrito. Let's do this! @Outlander_STARZ #Q&A #AskRichard

Shit, need to keep my answers shorter #askRichard

He shared some Outlander Season 5 tidbits…
This Season was the first time I really got to work with @SamHeughan as our characters have been very much apart, previously. I can tell you that it was a heck of a lot of fun; he's quite a darling and there's a lot of really great stuff between those characters coming up! https://t.co/G3HswQRx7F
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
I think this is a really interesting part of Roger's story this season is trying to fit in to life in the 18th Century. Many a new skill had to be adopted over the course of the Season. He may, or may not, have given a little hand-to-hand combat a go. #AskRichard https://t.co/te11MQOIb6
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
I've taken approximately 4,618 photos on set this Season. Which is about 25 less than @LlaurenLyle #AskRichard https://t.co/gLBBsMdqFJ
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Tell us more about RogerMac…
It was a tough Season but a great arc for Roger's story. There were a lot of challenges throughout the year and some of the toughest stuff – which I honestly wasn't sure how I was going to play – has been the most rewarding. #AskRichard https://t.co/ySSZZo4pkM
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Good question. If any of them apply – it's Pride and a touch of Wrath – as we may see flickers of. He has values, many of them very traditional ones which evolve and change over the course of his story. Whether or not he would admit it, his Pride often leads to conflict. #Askme https://t.co/jobKmWrB4J
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Good Question! Well, he's a Historian so I think he'd enjoy a good period drama. He'd probably have a bit of a thing for Mary Berry, right? And #TheCrimsonField is a good shout – he'd be looking on in admiration at that Cpt. Thomas Gillan fellow. #AskRichard https://t.co/vsiwqOq9jT
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Wooly Socks. #AskRichard https://t.co/OtDhd8cMTG

I admire the man's determination and tenacity. His honesty and integrity. He drools in his sleep but. #AskRichard https://t.co/1ZylIV8h2f
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Continuing the favorites theme…
One of my favourite novels of all time is probably Lord of the Rings. At the moment I'm reading a book called Attached, which is about attachment theory and Dare to Lead, by Brene Brown. Take from that what you will! #AskRichard https://t.co/qKhjcsZlVH
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
At the moment…probably @CHVRCHES. Got a bit of a thing for @Iain_A_Cook , if i'm honest. #AskRichard https://t.co/hlS41S9skv
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Probably @aneurinBarnard mate. Thanks for the question. #AskRichard https://t.co/pjsA4WJ92z
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019

Enjoyed the random questions he received. Love that Sophie, Steven Cree, Yan Tual /Father Alexandre and Ricky Whittle jumped in.
Haha!! It's on ice, mate. #AskRichard https://t.co/J8SJXWpXso
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
You know fine well I like to turn over periodically, Much like a sausage in a grill. #AskRichard https://t.co/WGzNoJWAMW
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Y'know, @caitrionambalfe is always crooning on set! Won't admit to having a nice voice – I disagree. @SkeltonSophie carries a great tune and I'd throw @SamHeughan in there just for his face. He has a nice face. #AskRichard https://t.co/DF8zfdvzIm
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Aye, I thought you'd be up front mate. Or on air guitar. ? https://t.co/G3h0YM6Hbr
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Probably from @SnideRogue who once told me 'Do less. You're ruining their show' or something to that effect. Or from one of my drama teachers #SteveDolan who once told me NOT to improvise Shakespeare. Ever. Again. Sage advice. #AskRichard https://t.co/6XtmYkbWVw
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
'Richard, when you're 15 – take your Brother's advice and go to the Doctor's about the abscess in your face. Don't instead go and play golf. It won't end well.' #AskRichard https://t.co/On9LSOTn4n
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Sure! I take Roger with me everywhere. He's a Goodyin! Very funny; handsome and smart too…! #AskRichard https://t.co/r0RHozWBmG
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
What would Richard do? Or say? Or watch?
I binge watch almost every show I start these days. Doesn't everyone? Most recently, though, I got through #Succession in about a day and a half. #AskRichard https://t.co/VvcueWXMOH
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
Yes, this is actually me. Well spotted. It's testament to an extraordinary makeup team and some pretty out there acting skillz. #AskRichard https://t.co/23HnDqQxNe
— Richard Rankin (@RikRankin) November 21, 2019
And that’s a wrap for Richard!
Thanks for joining in, Folks!! Great questions and sorry if I didn't get a chance to get round to yours. Need to boost, to make way for @SkeltonSophie and #AskSophie. Have fun. I'll be doing Gambit matches on #Destiny2 if you're interested. #AskRichard @Outlander_STARZ

Last, but definitely not least, Sophie Skelton. She joined in after filming one last scene.

Being Bree…
Definitely crying. ? she is a tough cookie but she is still working through a lot of pain. And it doesn’t get a whole lot easier! #AskSophie @Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/Zb3zOQ5cju
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
I mean… ? #LadyBree ?????????@Outlander_STARZ #AskSophie https://t.co/FkPpUf4o5k
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
It’s difficult because, really, if we’re going on real-life mental age then Jamie would actually be Bree’s child. Right @SamHeughan ?????? Muahahahahaha @Outlander_STARZ #AskSophie https://t.co/BoqLDYgRgc
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
Erm, awesome because Claire rocks and @caitrionambalfe is just one of the most incredible, genuine, coolest people you’ll ever meet ?? very lucky #AskSophie @Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/vSDDJemgXl
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
So much fun!! Always tough to work with kids but it’s amazing too. Bree is very maternal and it’s a great feeling once they start to treat you like their TV mom ???? @Outlander_STARZ #AskSophie https://t.co/lejVMdeH8z
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????#AskSophie @Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/rge6KtleKz
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
Absolutely. I think B not being able to execute her talent&passion in that century is one of her main challenges&frustrations this season. She is left to the “female” tasks a lot of the time. But her 21stcentury strong-willed self does start to break expectations #Asksophie https://t.co/JNbZBgtWWJ
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
Bree rises to every and any challenge and I admire that about her. Motherhood seems to come naturally to her even though it’s exhausting and she’s on her own at the house a lot. But marriage is magical and as is Jemmy #AskSophie @Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/oWAmprGnVu
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
It’s tough but Bree always rises to a challenge. She is so strong and she puts those she loves before herself so she will protect Jemmy no matter what and will love him no matter what. ?? @Outlander_STARZ #AskSophie https://t.co/B5n47Eq6ww
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
Bree doesn’t always let people in very easily but, once she does, she will protect them and be there for them no matter what. With Jemmy, it’s no different. She will go to any lengths to love and protect that little troublemaker ?? #AskSophie @Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/yQlg7ZzuJ5
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
Firstly, with you lot on Twitter!!!! And then plan to celebrate at home with my feet up and my hand holding a glass of ?! Oh wait, was that a bottle?? I totally meant a ?…. ??? #asksophie @Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/fjSMaPxhSf
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
Let’s talk Season 5…
Her intelligence and quick thinking and her desire and determination to protect those she loves, no matter what the cost. #AskSophie @Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/wAxXmcjYAG
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
I won’t rat anyone out but Jemmy loves a bit of ad-lib ???? #AskSophie @Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/UtBqDQAlJt

Finally, the always interesting random inquiries and love notes…
From last season it was the scene where B goes to the jail to talk to Bonnet. The take in the final cut was a stronger version but I did a take where I couldn’t hold it in and B let the gates open. I couldn’t stop crying and shaking after the take. #AskSophie @Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/4i96yu0qOi
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
Just by putting your head down and taking it day by day… and making sure you have a VERY trusty alarm clock!!!! Mine has about 20 different alarm times saved now because shooting starts at slightly different times every day?@Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/JxGETPamxQ

Jemmy because then I can be bribed with food to work, then say I’m only doing one take today, and then I can cry in order to go home early. ?? these kids have the right idea!!! @Outlander_STARZ #AskSophie https://t.co/kmAUvAkNyf
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
Yes, stick about 25 heat packs to my body. Right @caitrionambalfe ??!!! The guys would find this odd! Women’s clothing was as practical in those days! #AskSophie @Outlander_STARZ https://t.co/wxRQzD6Y4q
— Sophie Skelton (@SkeltonSophie) November 21, 2019
