I honestly don't know. It's devastating. My heart is broken for Paris and Beirut and for every place where atrocities like this happen which go unreported because they aren't deemed important enough. I held my husband and son extra close and extra tight tonight. Waiting to hear back from a friend of ours who lives a few hours away from Paris and was hopefully nowhere near the city. Sometimes there are just no easy answers, only more unsettling questions.

Indeed. The heartbreak of yesterday is how sheltered we tend to be from the rest of the world. When we hear about one atrocity, we tend to get an onslaught, with previously under-reported events dog piling onto the mix and it's so much loss and grief it's hard to keep our eyes on the good in the world. And yet, we see the outpouring of support and solidarity and it has restorative power. Today, as I held my son, I'm reminded of all the sons who will never come home, all the children who have lost parents, all the wives who have lost husbands and it can be overwhelming. So we must focus on the good and focus on ways we can give back. Like Claire said: "You cannot save the world, but you might save the man in front of you."

"We should not mourn the losses today because they happened in any particular city, to any particular people. We should mourn them because they happened to fellow humans, no matter what race, religion or creed." amen, outlander cast!

A reminder from someone else on FB that almost daily other places are being attacked. I'm sharing this in support of Paris. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/11/isil-claims-suicide-bombings-southern-beirut-151112193802793.html
